Nokia Battles Itunes

Nokia is taking on Apple’s Itunes store with their own free music package. The company has recently released their new touch screen phone that will compete with Apple called 5800 Express Music. Apparently for the cost of the phone and a one year contract, you get all the music in the world for free on your phone. Read the article here for more details.

Best Buy becomes first independent iPhone retailer

Yahoo announced that Best Buy Co. will be the first independent carrier of the Apple iPhone starting September 7th outside of Apple Inc.’s and AT&T Inc.’s stores.  Click here for the link.

Apple has announced it sold 1 million iPhones over the past weekend during the new iPhone’s debut on the market.  Were there problems also though?  Read more right here.

Apple Unveils New Iphone Price

Apple has reduced the price of it’s 8GB Iphone to just $199 while the 16GB model will be $299. It now has support for the faster 3G networks and has built in GPS. Sounds pretty cool.

I’ve been mulling over this for a bit now and would be interested to hear your thoughts on whether you would pay an extra $100 for you iPod or iPhone if you were guarenteed unlimited downloads for the life of the device?  The article here from the financial times talks about the deal that Apple is apparently trying to work out with the record companies.  I wonder if what Josh just posted changes things though…because that would make the life of the iPod quite a bit longer and the capacity enormously larger.
