The last music we heard from David Condos was the three song EP entitled Like Wolves. The EP was my first exposure to David Condos, and it excited me enough to go out and buy the earlier music, while also filling me with anticipation for whatever the guy would release next- which turned out to be a self-titled EP under a new moniker, Milktooth. And boy does it deliver, even more so than Like Wolves. Partly because it’s twice as long, but mostly because the songwriting is just so good. The songs have a “bigger,” more energetic feel to them (”Such Wonderous” light is the only song with the singer-songwriter feel of prior material), probably because the backing band has become more involved in the songwriting process, but the music turns out just as original and engaging. David’s signature, soulful, vocals complement the earthy, organic-sounding music perfectly. At times the songs sound pretty chaotic, but in a beautiful, purposeful way. Add DavidĀ  Condos’ uncanny ability to pen a ridiculously catchy song, while avoiding the typical painfuly saccharine, forced, and recycled sound that characterizes too much of modern music, and you’ve pretty much got a masterpiece. Even with the catchiness, there is quite an abundance of replay value in this music. I’ve listened to it 10+ times in the last few days, and I still don’t feel that I have absorbed it completely. As I’ve said in the past, David Condos songwriting provides a much needed change in direction from current musical trends, and deserves to get much more recognition than it does at the moment. Once you’re done reading this review, you should definitely go pick up a copy (legally).

9/10- This is as close as you can get to originality in today’s music scene. Pick up a copy, or a whole duffel bag full of them. This band deserves your support.

RIYL: I”m not really sure what to put here, because I’m drawing a blank on any comparisons, but that’s probably a great reason for you to check this band out.
