Sad news comes today from The New Frontiers. Apparently the band is calling it quits. Dang it, and I just bought their album recently too. Bummer, they were a great great band.
Circuit City is considering closing up to 150 stores and laying off many people in an effort to avoid Bankruptcy. It’s a sad state of our economy and I’m sure their competition with the mighty Best Buy isn’t helping. Do we have any Circuit City fans on this website?
Hello all, I bring to you this week’s box office report. Let’s go. Max Payne took the top spot over the weekend taking in $18million. Beverly Hills Chihuahua was in second with a take of $11.2million ($69.1 million total). In third was the inspirational film, The Secret Lives of Bees with $11.1million. In fourth was the film “W” about George W. Bush which took in a disappointing $10million showing that America is not quite ready for more political films especially one after the current president. Finally, Eagle Eye was in fifth place with a take of $7.34million ($81.3million total). I saw Eagle Eye last weekend and for some reason part of it reminded me of Stealth. Weird. So did any of you see a movie over the weekend and if so, which one?
Last March Dr. Pepper made a pledge that it would give each American a free can of Dr. Pepper if Guns N Roses came out with their Chinese Democracy album in 2008. The album is set to be released November 25th and so Dr. Pepper is actually getting ready to set a plan in motion so people can get their free pop. The release date has not officially been confirmed by the band or their label though so things are somewhat still up in the air. Stay tuned for more details as it comes. In the meantime you can read an article about this whole thing here.
Newsmax.com reports that conservative pundit Glen Beck is leaving CNN Headline News for the Fox News Channel. I am sad. CNN needed at leat one conservative spokesperson to counter all the liberal reporters and hosts working there. But at the same time he will gain a larger audience being at Fox, since Fox has more viewers.

“Everything in Transit” by Jack’s Mannequin is played at least every two weeks in my car. Why? Because I think it’s a great album, lots of fun, and easy to sing along to. This leads us to today, two weeks after their sophomore LP “The Glass Passenger” has been released, and I have had ample time to form some opinions on Andrew McMahon’s latest and greatest.

According to Latimes.com, Richard Donner, the original series director for Lethal Weapon, has reported that Mel Gibson has turned down a franchise awakening:
“Mel turned it down,” Donner said. “I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn’t involved. Knowing Mel, I would like to think that. Would that be the kind of thing he does? It sure would be.It’s too bad, actually, because Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth one, and Mike Riva, a designer on three of them, and myself and Derek [Hoffman, an associate at The Donner Company] had an incredibly strong story for the fifth movie. But we weren’t given the opportunity and I think maybe I could have convinced Mel to do it. But Warners chose to go with Joel Silver.”
Could Donner ever become involved in a new Lethal Weapon film? And if so, do you believe Gibson would be on board if Donner was involved? We may never know.

Bringing along a full band this time around, the songs on Bring Me Your Love are much fuller and are more likely to keep your attention all the way through than those of City & Colour’s debut, Sometimes, which gave Dallas Green an outlet for his beautiful use of his singing voice and an acoustic guitar, in contrast his normal musicality as lead vocalist of the Canadian screamo/post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. There’s something special about seeing a band play right after interviewing them. That pre-show conversation makes you feel really connected to the artist, which then transfers over to the performance. Such was the case this past Friday night when I had a chat with Dallas Green, vocalist of Alexisonfire and his acoustic side-project, City & Colour. Following our interview, I left the dressing room, picked up my tickets at the will-call office, and got in line. Read the rest of this entry »
Arbitron is a company that rates market share for Radio Stations and oftentimes off of these ratings stations either make more or less revenue for their ad sales. But now the New York Attorney General has sued Arbitron saying that it uses a flawed system and it does not properly represent minorities so radio stations that cater to the minorities are being unfairly rated and losing revenue as a result. This could cause alot of problems in the world of radio if they are found to be guilty because so much has been based on their results in the past. You can read more here.
