Is Vampire Weekend Overrated?
Vampire Weekend have been described by the New York Times as the break out indie success of the year. Here’s the video for their break out song A-Punk.
I personally don’t get what all the hype is about and think that there are much more deserving indie acts them these guys. But I’d be interested to know what you all think of Vampire Weekend.

This band is way OVERATED. I really can’t stand them. I hear their song on satellite radio everyday and I flip the channel. Irritating.

these guys had one of the best selling albums in Canada for awhile and I just dont get the appeal. I listen to alot of indie music but I cant seem to get into these guys.

I heard one of their songs on XM while I was driving home tonight. It was okay, but I definitely don’t think they deserve the hype they’re getting.

Another band I dont really care for that’s got alot of attention in the last bit (was on pretty much every music blogger’s top 10 albums of 2007) is The National. What do you all think of them? http://www.myspace.com/thenational

The indie-list mainstays…well, I’ve never really checked them in. I spend too much time and money getting into, say, punk releases from five years ago, haha. So I’ve never heard any Arcade Fire, any Spoon, any National…Someday I might remedy that.

I can’t get into the indie stuff either, though I’ve tried. I’ll attempt to listen to one of the aforementioned artists, get bored and go put on some punk rock.
