Box Office Report: May 12th

Well, I got busy uploading Summer Slam Vol. 2 to IndieVisionMusic.com that I forgot to do the weekly box office report last night. So here we go.

Iron Man took home the top spot yet again at the box office over the weekend, earning $50million ($177million total) making it the biggest blockbuster of the year so far. Speed Racer unfortunately didn’t do as well as predicted and only raked in $20million earning the name “Bomb”. I saw Speed Racer and it really wasn’t all that great. It was way too long and I didnt think it gained the attention of the kid audience it was aiming for. It was a little slow and my son lost interest after the first 30 minutes and I even was staring at my watch waiting for it to end which I hardly ever do in a theater. Yep. The romantic comedy “What Happens in Vegas” took in $20million also and got the third place spot on the chart. My wife says it was “really good” but I didnt see it so I can’t judge ;). Another romantic comedy, “Made of Honor” was in fourth place with a take of $7.6million ($26.275million total). The hilarious looking film “Baby Mama” (well I can’t technically say ‘hilarious’ if I haven’t seen it but you knwo what I mean) was in fifth with a take of $5.76million ($40.377million total) making it a slight success story for these SNL castmates (well one is a current castmate and the other is an alumni but you get the point).
